ISG secures £16.5m Swindon retail and leisure scheme

ISG has been awarded a £16.5m contract by Ashfield Land to build the Regent Circus retail and leisure park in Swindon.

The mixed-use scheme is anchored by a new six-screen Cineworld cinema and a 50,000 sq ft Morrisons supermarket.

Regent Circus will also have eight restaurant units, with tenants including Prezzo, Nando’s and Ask, and a 450-space car park.

It will be built on the site of the former Swindon Technical College and the multi-storey scheme is set to regenerate the site.

Surrounding public realm space will also be upgraded as part of the development, with a new landscaping scheme and exterior lighting.

ISG said it has worked with Ashfield Land to carry out an extensive value engineering exercise to achieve cost and time savings that have enhanced the original specification.

ISG’s south-west managing director John Rawlinson said: “Regent Circus is an exciting new addition to the retail and leisure landscape within Swindon, bringing high specification facilities to a new town centre location.

“The project is an excellent example of the value of early contractor engagement within the procurement process, enabling ISG’s expertise within major retail construction to deliver real cost and programme savings to this landmark development.”
