ISG has won two refurbishment contracts totalling £7.3m, as part of Aspire Defence’s 35-year PFI infrastructure contract.
The projects, for the Tidworth and Aldershot garrisons, add to the 3,500 bedrooms ISG have refurbished on the contract in recent years.
The Tidworth garrison project, worth £5m, will see ISG upgrade the three junior ranks single-living accommodation buildings, consisting of four-person and single-person rooms, into single-person en-suit rooms at Mooltan Barracks.
ISG will remodel these buildings in two phases. The first, due to complete in March 2013, will create 64 single en-suit rooms, while the second, scheduled to be finished by the end of that year, will see 72 single en-suite rooms created.
The £2.3m project at Aldershot’s Lille Barracks comprises the design and build refurbishment of a senior ranks mess and a new build extension to a single-living accommodation block for sergeants and warrant officers.
Upgrades will be made to the senior ranks mess public rooms, dining room and kitchens, while the sergeants’ living accommodation will be remodelled to create two en-suite rooms from every three existing bedrooms, with 14 new rooms in total.
The project also involves a new mechanical and electrical installation and fabric upgrades to the building.
ISG south west managing director John Rawlinson said: “Similar to all our previous Aspire projects, flexibility remains key in delivering these important assets to a strict schedule, while minimising disruption in the live military environment. ISG works closely with Aspire and the garrisons to ensure that the movement of both site personnel and soldiers returning from tours of duty can be accommodated smoothly
“Our consistent success across this framework is strongly allied to our delivery credentials. Recently, we completed our 100th asset, which was located at Bulford Barracks and delivered snag free. It is this track record that directly relates to the volume of work ISG has secured with Aspire on this MoD contract.”
