Balfour Beatty wins £230m Oldham BSF deal

Balfour Beatty has won the £230 million Oldham Building Schools for the Future contract.

The firm beat Equity Solutions – which includes Galliford Try as main contractor – to the deal to work on all the Greater Manchester town’s schools.

The work will be financed by a mixture of PFI and design and build arrangements.

Under Oldham Council’s plans, all its schools will be rebuilt, replaced or substantially refurbished by 2014. The council was one of the last authorities on Wave Four of the scheme to put work out to tender when it issued an OJEU notice last summer.

Work is due to start on site in early 2011.
