Manor Property Group buys site for 35-storey student tower

Manor Property Group has paid £30 million for a site close to Leeds University campus, on which it plans to build a 600-unit student accommodation development including a 35-storey tower.

Subject to planning permission, the Yorkshire-based developer wants to complete the scheme at Manor Point on North Street by September 2012.

The land is currently occupied by a disused structurally dangerous four-storey residential property and has been acquired from the administrators of Life Homes.

Although the proposed design is dictated by need, renowned Leeds architects Carey Jones have developed the tower with due consideration to the Leeds Tall Building Guide.
