Mansell has been selected for a £12 million seven-storey student accommodation block in London’s Euston Road.
The Wellcome Trust has appointed the Balfour Beatty division as its delivery partner for the project at Bentley House, which will be completed in time for the 2014/15 student intake.
The scheme involves demolition of part of the existing building behind a retained façade and construction of a 171-bed accommodation block along with associated external works, services, lifts and ancillary areas.
Once complete the building will be certified with a BREEAM Very Good rating.
Workers will need to protect the architectural heritage of the building by setting aside and reusing as many of the original bricks as possible.
A Balfour Beatty statement said: “This latest contract award draws on Mansell’s considerable expertise in listed building conversion and structural alterations, adding to its extensive student accommodation portfolio.”
