VolkerFitzpatrick wins Anglia Ruskin campus development contract

VolkerFitzpatrick, the Dutch-owned contractor, has been chosen to redevelop the Cambridge campus of Anglia Ruskin University.

Under the contract, worth an estimated £22 million, VolkerFitzpatrick will demolish one building and replace it with several new buildings which will form a ‘wrap’ around an internal courtyard.

The four-storey wrap will extend and refurbish the existing library and media centre to create a new learning centre.

New lecture theatres and classrooms will be built, social areas will be improved and there will be spaces for a mezzanine exhibition and drama rehearsal, VolkerFitzpatrick said.

The project is due to be completed in time for the start of the 2011 academic year.
