Wandsworth calls for interest in £300m BSF deal

Wandsworth Council will invite expressions of interest in £300 million Building Schools for the Future contract at a bidders’ day later this month.

The London borough will outline its plans on Monday 29 June, before drawing up a shortlist of three contractors by September.

Final bids will be due by July 2010, and the successful company will be appointed for an initial 10-year strategic partnership to modernise Wandsworth’s secondary schools.

Council leader Edward Lister said: “The Wandsworth BSF programme has already attracted substantial interest. It’s a terrific opportunity to work with one of the country’s leading authorities with a track record for excellence in education.

“The plans we will be outlining on June 29 have all been designed to improve the educational opportunities for our children further and ensure they have the best possible learning environment.”

The Bidders’ Open Day will take place at the Bank of England Sports Ground, Roehampton.
