Willmott Dixon gets green light for £45m Welsh college

Cardiff Council has approved plans for a £45m city centre college campus to be built by Willmott Dixon.

The new 16,000 sq m campus for Cardiff and Vale College will provide facilities for 2,300 students and 350 staff, bringing together most of its activities into a single building in the city centre.

It is supported by a grant from the Welsh government, and is part of the college’s capital development programme to transform learning by providing world class facilities across the region.

The Council’s planning committee voted unanimously to approve proposals for the new campus to help regenerate the city centre.

Work on site is due to begin in August and is scheduled for completion in May 2015.

Willmott Dixon was appointed main contractor for the project in March and is working alongside architect BDP and developer Rightacre Properties.
