Inspace lined up for work on £39m Bermondsey regeneration

Willmott Dixon’s social housing arm Inspace has been named preferred bidder for two major phases of the £39 million Bermondsey Spa regeneration project.

Hyde Housing Group named Inspace as preferred bidder for two major phases of the London scheme, which is scheduled to start in the autumn.

It marks another major step in the 10-year multi-phase regeneration of the Bermondsey Spa area in Southwark.

Southwark Council has identified 15 sites to be developed, a process that will eventually see more than 2,000 homes created, alongside other community services and infrastructure.

Inspace will be responsible for the demolition of 77 existing dwellings, followed by the design and build of 319 new homes. These will be available through affordable rent and shared ownership as well as private sale.

Plans also include a foodstore and several retail units.

The work involves constructing five blocks of between three and 10 stories. The blocks will feature glazed brick cladding, large balconies and underground car parking facilities.

The project will be Code for Sustainable Home Level 3, and much of the development will be built using the light steel frame construction method that is pre-fabricated off-site. ENDS
