Plans approved for £4.5bn Merseyside development

Peel Holdings has received planning permission for its £4.5 billion Wirral Waters development in the North-west.

Wirral Council Planning Committee last night approved what is thought to be the largest urban regeneration project in the UK.

The project will create more than 400,000 sq m of mixed-use floor space and around 13,500 houses as well as related infrastructure. It is expected to take at least 30 years to complete.

Peel director Lindsey Ashworth said: “This is an historic day for the future of Wirral and the entire city region.”
