ODA plant training centre move

The Olympic Delivery Authority’s plant training centre is set to move to Silvertown Quays, adjacent to the Royal Victoria Dock, east London later this year, where Crossrail will also use it to train plant operatives.

ODA director of construction Howard Shiplee confirmed the move at this week’s Construction News Games Briefing.

So far the centre, which is run by the National Construction College, has trained more than 300 people.

Earlier this year the ODA said that more than half of these went on to work at the Olympic Park, while the remaining trainees have gained employment on other sites in the area through a job brokerage service.
