Pipe dreams

Morgan Est has installed three major pipework connections at the Frankley Water Treatment Works as part of its £31 million contract at the site with Severn Trent Water.

The 1,100 mm diameter pipes connect into different parts of Severn Trent Water’s existing water treatment works. The connections were made over 24, 36 and 48-hour periods respectively, with the planning and execution involving more than 200 people from Morgan Est, Severn Trent Water and the supply chain.

Morgan Est project manager Jay Standen said: “The work went very well and we are pleased that through teamwork, thorough planning and good communication we have completed the connections within the allotted timescale and without incident.”

Work began in January 2007 and is due for completion in September 2009 to satisfy OFWAT consent requirements.
