It will also carry out hard and soft landscaping works to create access to London’s 02 arena.

All hotel and apartment bathrooms will be constructed offsite, while green measures such as solar photovoltaic panels and rainwater harvesting will be included.

Work will begin this summer, concluding in summer 2015.

Balfour Beatty chief executive Andrew McNaughton said: “We are delighted to see that our customers are eager to embrace sustainable best practice to develop a scheme that will help promote UK trade and investment.

“We welcome the opportunity to apply the sustainable construction methods we have been developing as part of our complex building offering.”
