Ex-Land Securities London managing director Mike Hussey has taken over the presidency of the British Council for Offices.
Mr Hussey left Land Securities at the end of June. He had been set to become chief executive of part of the firm following a demerger, but left “by mutual agreement” when the split did not come about.
He takes over the BCO post from Nicholas Ridley. He said: “The BCO is the UK’s leading thinktank for the discussion and debate of the issues affecting the office sector.
“We are facing challenging economic conditions. The BCO has got to be in a position to anticipate and react to change – from the delivery of small office space for entrepreneurial businesses through to fundamental trends in the financial services industry.”
Property group Helical Bar’s development director Gerald Kaye will become senior vice-president, BT’s head of construction management Gary Wingrove will become junior vice-president.
Wates Group’s James Wates has been appointed as the second junior vice-president.
