McLaren picked for £120m Brighton scheme

McLaren Construction has been picked by developer First Base to deliver the £120m redevelopment of Amex House in Brighton

Located in the Edward Street Quarter of the city, the project will include 170,000 sq ft of grade A office space, as well as 168 new homes.

It has been designed by architect BuckleyGrayYeoman.

Demolition of Amex House is now complete, with construction set to commence in May 2019.

First Base is working on the Edward Street Quarter development in partnership with Patron Capital. The joint venture secured planning consent for the development in July 2018.

First Base project director Steve Eccles said: “We are pleased to appoint McLaren, which has a demonstrable track record in delivering complex mixed-use schemes.”

The project will employ over 1,000 people on site over the duration of the development and support up to 2,000 jobs when complete.
