Sir Robert McAlpine has been confirmed as the main contractor on the £130 million Heron residential development and will begin work on site this week.
Heron were understood to be clarifying the terms of a fixed price deal with both Sir Robert McAlpine and Mace in May, while Brookfield and Galliford Try had been eliminated at an earlier stage.
The 36 storey tower, which is within walking distance of Moorgate and Liverpool St tube stations, will provide 284 residential apartments and will incorporate a landscape roof garden, gym and a screening room.
Heron International commercial director Lisa Ronson, said: “The Heron will offer residents a rare opportunity to live in the Square Mile, in apartments that will redefine City living. We look forward to working with Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd to bring this exclusive development to life, ensuring that the quality of build and finish is as exceptional as the building’s unique location”
Sir Robert McAlpine regional director Vince Corrigan, said: “Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd is delighted to be working with Heron International on this exciting and prestigious project.”
Completion is expected in 2013.
