Network Rail appoints Andy Haynes as new contracts and procurement director

Network Rail has appointed a director of contracts and procurement.

Andy Haynes will leave his post as project director on Network Rail’s Greater West Programme to oversee the procurement strategy across the organisation’s eight routes.

Mr Haynes has been with Network Rail for more than 16 years in a number of finance, delivery and procurement roles.

In his recent role, he led the delivery of major track and signalling projects across Network Rail’s Western Route.

This also saw him in charge of the commercial strategies and procurement of Crossrail’s surface works and the redevelopment of Reading station.

Mr Haynes joins the Route Services Directorate’s management team and reports directly to route services director Susan Cooklin.

The Route Services Directorate was created last year to provide a centralised body that could serve the routes directly.

Network Rail currently manages 1,500 different contracts and categories from construction to consultancy services.

Ms Cooklin said: “Andy has had a prominent career in Network Rail and I am delighted he is joining Route Services to manage our commercial contracts and build stronger supplier relationships.”
