ISG confirmed on Amazon's Bristol mega-shed

ISG has been confirmed as main contractor on Amazon’s new multi-million-pound mega-shed in Bristol.

The 2.2m sq ft multi-storey facility, at Severnside Distribution Land’s logistics development, Avonmouth, is the online giant’s first self-developed warehouse in the UK.

ISG has been unveiled as contractor in an announcement from M&E specialist Mech FS, who has been appointed by ISG as a subcontractor on the project.

Mech FS chief executive Paul Sutherland branded the contract win a “fantastic coup” for the company.

The Doncaster-based firm will provide a full mechanical and electrical install for the project, using its own in-house 3D design technology capabilities, it said.

The specialist also worked on Amazon’s new facility in Warrington, Lancashire.

The Bristol warehouse will be the US giant’s 16th fulfilment centre in the UK as the firm looks to tighten its grip on the UK retail market.

In July this year, the online retailer opened a new UK head office in Shoreditch, east London. Construction consultant Rise bagged the fit-out on the job, Construction News exclusively revealed last year

ISG and Amazon both declined to comment.
