TIMELAPSE: Sir Robert McAlpine transforms Durham shopping centre

The Riverwalk development – previously known as the Gates shopping centre – will include 35,000 sq ft of commercial space and 253 student accommodation rooms.

Odeon Cinemas confirmed last year it will open a six-screen facility at the complex, the first Odeon in the city. Handmade Burger Co will also open an outlet at The Riverwalk. 

The development is due to complete by autumn next year.
