Greenwood Scaffolding rises to the challenge in Salford

Three imposing 17-storey residential tower blocks in Salford, Manchester, presented construction challenges to specialist contractor Greenwood Scaffolding.

The 43 m-high towers rise above a busy residential area with pedestrian access directly below, and all properties remained occupied throughout the refurbishment scheme – meaning that all flats required access at all times.

Greenwood used the Plettac METRIX system, provided by Trad Hire & Sales, to lower the risk and dramatically reduce erection time.

The system is also divisible, allowing extra vertical members to be used within the bay length and width, increasing its adaptability for the job.

Instead of the programmed 12 weeks using a traditional tube and fitting scaffold, Greenwood covered each tower block in just two weeks, using only four scaffolders and six labourers.
