BIM Academy managing director
The BIM Academy was established by Northumbria University and Ryder Architecture in 2010 to support the construction industry in its adoption of BIM.
Peter Barker is responsible for business development and enterprise within the organisation.
Mr Barker was a director at Ryder Architecture and responsible for the early research and development of BIM within the practice from 2003.
UK Government BIM Task Group chairman
As chairman of the UK BIM Task Group, Mark Bew is tasked with the delivery of BIM and soft landings into the public sector by 2016.
He is also MD of Engineering Construction Strategies and chairman of BuildingSMART UK.
Mr Bew was previously business systems director at both Scott Wilson and Costain, and was awarded an MBE for services to construction in 2012.
UCL professor of built environment foresight
Tim Broyd moved to UCL following a career in industry. He sits on the government’s Implementation Task Force for BIM, is vice-chairman of BuildingSMART UK and is a director of CEEQUAL.
He became vice-president of the Institution of Civil Engineers in November 2011 with responsibility for public voice and policy, and is set to become president in 2016/17.

HSE chief inspector of construction
Heather Bryant is HSE chief inspector of construction and heads up the construction division in the HSE, which is responsible for strategy, policy and field operations across Great Britain.
Ms Bryant was previously divisional director responsible for general field operations across London, the East and the South-east and was HSE’s lead for the Waste and Recycling Strategy.
Chartered Institute of Building president
Alan Crane has more than 40 years of experience in construction.
President of the CIOB, owner of 3C’s construction consultancy and former chief operating officer of Bovis International, Mr Crane has been responsible for high-profile projects such as Canary Wharf, EuroDisney and Petronas Towers.
He is also a member of the Building Regulations Advisory Committee.
Government chief construction adviser
Peter Hansford was appointed chief construction adviser in December 2012.
He was previously an executive director at the Nichols Group and has more than 30 years’ experience in delivering major construction projects.
He has also been a non-executive board director of Crossrail and is an independent non- executive programme board member for the Thames Tideway Tunnel.

CITB deputy chairman
Judy Lowe joined CITB as deputy chairman in 2009. Formerly an academic at several leading business schools, she has held non-executive director roles with Mott MacDonald and the Treasury as well as Barhale, Bovis Lend Lease and Wrekin.
Most recently she chaired the PPP to rebuild most of the University of Sheffield’s student accommodation.
National House Building Council group health and safety manager
A former quantity surveyor, Simon Mantle has gained almost 40 years’ experience working in most areas of the construction industry.
During the mid-1990s, Mr Mantle began a new career in health and safety and is head of health and safety for the National House Building Council.
He chairs the Strategic Forum for Construction’s Health and Safety Committee.
UK Contactors Group director
Through his current role with UK Contractors Group, Stephen Ratcliffe is focused on delivering a representative voice for the construction industry, with UKCG members representing more than £36bn of turnover between them.
Mr Ratcliffe was formerly chief executive of the Construction Confederation and director of the Major Contractors Group.
