"It was an easy choice to join to be part of this fascinating and exciting industry"

Simon Jones, business development director at Jewson, tells us why he loves construction.

How did you get into the industry?

I didn’t previously have any work experience in the construction industry, but took on a project to renovate a property in London.

During the course of this project, I came to love the products and great innovation that’s going on in the building materials industry.

When the position came up at Jewson it was an easy choice to join to be part of this fascinating and exciting industry!

What is the best thing about construction?

The infinite and incredible things that can be built out of seemingly simple materials.

If you could change one thing about the industry what would it be?

I would like to see more diversity of people and ideas.

How should we encourage young people to join the industry?

Get young people involved through work experience and projects, so they can see the massive variety of exciting opportunities the industry offers.
