Network Rail seeks contractors for £3bn work bonanza

Network Rail is seeking 15 contractors for a £2bn, seven-year electrification framework, and four more for a five-year infrastructure framework in the South, worth up to £800m.

The first framework, for the National Electrification Programme, seeks detailed design, supply, manufacture, construction and commissioning for all aspects of electrification and associated infrastructure.

This includes overhead line work, power supply, distribution, civils work, On Track Plant, signalling, track and telecoms work.

Tenders or requests to participate must be received by 12 noon on 15 February.

The Southern contract is for multifunctional works covering all railway assets, including stations, civils and enhancements.

It may also include electrification, power, signaling, track and telecommunications work.

Works are to focus on the Anglia, Kent, Sussex and Wessex routes, but may be extended to other parts of the country.

The Southern contract is divided into four lots, one for each of the four routes. Network rail retains the option to extend the contract by up to 12 months.

Tenders and requests to participate must be returned by 4 March 2013 at 12 noon.
