Miller bags £51m of university contracts

Miller Construction has won projects at Bangor and Durham universities

The contractor has preferred bidder status for a £40m arts centre at Bangor University and has signed an £11m contract to extend Durham University’s business school.

Works at Bangor University are expected to begin in May 2012 and complete in spring 2014.  The building will house a 500-seat theatre, studio theatre, cinema, restaurant, bars, a new students union building and teaching and learning space. 

The Durham University project includes improvement to the façade of the existing buildings, additional office accommodation, a new breakout space, improved catering space and increased flexibility for corporate events. 
Works in Durham are begin in April 2012 and are expected to complete in September 2013.

Chris Webster, chief executive of Miller Construction, said: “We are building a strong portfolio of projects in higher education and the contracts at Bangor University and Durham University provide us with the opportunity to reinforce our expertise and skills in this market.”
