Retailer Next has identified 19 locations where it plans to build concept stores following the success of its Shoreham branch.
The company opened a Fashion and Home shop in the Sussex seaside town last August and in its annual results published today, said the concept had proven extremely successful.
It said: “The store consists of a Fashion and a Home shop, sitting side-by-side, on one stand-alone site with its own car park.
“The Home part of the shop carries an extended range which includes light DIY products and a small garden centre.
“We have identified 19 other sites around the UK where we would ideally like to open similar stores. However we expect progress to be slow as almost all of these sites require planning permission. We will open at least two more in the year ahead, one near Ipswich the other near Warrington.”
Next expects to open a further 300,000 sq ft in the year ahead, contributing 4 per cent to sales over the year.
It downgraded its projects for the level of turnover it expects to generate from new space after planning battles delayed a number of complex projects.
