West Northampton Development Corporation has submitted plans for a five-story cube, which the organisation hopes will kick-start development in the town.
Should it be given the go-ahead, the £6.5m building, opposite the train station, will be known as the Innovative Cube.
The WNDC’s director of regeneration, Chris Garden, said: “Together with our plans for Northampton station, the Innovation Cube will form an impressive gateway into the centre of Northampton.
“Crucially, it will be a home to a range of inventive new businesses, bringing vital new jobs and investment to the area.
“We’re currently talking to potential partners, which we require to help develop the building and operate the centre once it’s completed.”
The building forms part of a broader plan to redevelop the town, including new homes, shops and offices.
