The Olympic Delivery Authority has appointed Hugh Sumner as transport director, responsible for delivering London 2012's transport infrastructure and services.

Mr Sumner has been acting director since July 2005 and working on London's bid since 2003.

ODA chief executive David Higgins said: 'Hugh's proven operational and strategic experience will be key to our successful working with the industry in planning and delivering transport services to meet the needs of athletes, spectators and London's travelling public during the 2012 Games.'
