The Open Doors 2018 campaign that will see contractors open their sites to the public has been launched at the One Blackfriars site in London.
Students from local schools and colleges were among those who attended the launch to hear about the opportunities on offer in construction.
The Open Doors campaign is organised by Build UK and the CITB, with sites opening to the public from Monday 19 to Saturday 24 March.
Those who attended the Open Doors launch were given a tour of One Blackfriars – one of the most high-profile projects in London.
Multiplex is building the 170 m-high residential tower along London’s South Bank for developer Berkeley Group.
Visitors went up to the 32nd floor viewing gallery to check out the ongoing construction works.
Build UK chief executive Suzannah Nichol said: “Open Doors 2018 is set to be another record-breaking year with fantastic, iconic sites like One Blackfriars opening up across England, Scotland and Wales.
“Open Doors provides an ideal opportunity for the industry to open their doors and highlight the vast array of jobs and careers available within it.”
CITB industry relations director Mark Noonan said: “By providing an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at some of Britain’s best building sites, young people of all backgrounds can see the range of rewarding careers construction offers.”
Open Doors is supported by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and Go Construct.
