Family firm Osborne has made its construction managing director Keith Taylor redundant.
Mr Taylor became MD of the construction and homes division as part of a restructure at the family firm, which reported a 25 per cent hike in pre tax profits in the last financial year.
He was in charge of merging its homes and construction sectors to form a larger “more efficient construction business” with four units; commercial, education, health and homes. The company said at the last summer that it expected to make further ‘efficiencies’ in the year ahead.
Sector heads will now report into Phil Shortman, the former construction MD who became executive director in 2009.
Chief Executive David Fison said: “Keith did a great job, especially in a difficult market, but it became clear that the extra stage in the reporting line that his role created meant that we were not operating as efficiently as we could.
“It was therefore decided, with regret, that to streamline the process, our sector heads would report directly into board director Phil Shortman from now on instead.”
Staff numbers across the group fell from 1,030 to 950, in 2010/11. Construction and manufacturing numbers were down from 377 to 250, while the firm grew its management and technical from 653 to 700.
Turnover in 2011 reduced by 8 per cent to £287m, with a £182m order book.
