Balfour Beatty has bagged a £42m contract to build a 454-unit student housing development for Urbanest in Vauxhall.
Construction of the 33-storey building will begin imminently and is scheduled to complete in summer 2018.
The development will contribute to the wider £400m regeneration taking place in Vauxhall Square.
Balfour Beatty has delivered 2,520 units across five central London schemes for Urbanest to date as part of a long-running partnership with the developer.
The contractor’s regional managing director John Keaveney said: “We are looking forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with Urbanest.
“To date we’ve delivered more than 2,500 units of student accommodation for Urbanest and over 20,000 beds for private sector customers and academic institutes, as well as significant investment into a number of schemes.”
Urbanest project director Angus Kearin added: “The quality of their work underpins the need for close collaboration between clients and contractors and this partnership has been integral to our ongoing success.”
