Airport group launches £50m modular framework

Manchester Airport Group (MAG) is seeking contractors for a £50m modular car parks framework.

The group, which owns Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands airports, is looking to build several modular car parks at its various UK sites over the next four years.

Places will be awarded across four lots, with the largest being for the supply and installation of a £35m multi-storey modular car park.

Three other lots, valued at £5m each, cover hire and purchase of modular car park decking.

A maximum of six contractors are expected be appointed to the framework.

Laing O’Rourke is already building a 3,800-space multi-storey car park at Manchester Airport as part of a £1bn transformation programme for the site.

MAG said its car parking facilities, which contributed around a fifth of the group’s £544m revenue in 2017, needed to be expanded after “outperforming“ expectations.
