Ardmore to complete Croydon hotel started by Bowen

Ardmore Construction has been appointed as main contractor by Croydon Hotels to complete a new Hampton by Hilton hotel in Croydon.

The contractor was appointed after Bowen Construction, originally expected to complete the work, went into liquidation last month. Bowen had started construction of the new hotel in September 2010.

Ardmore confirmed it will complete the construction and fit-out of the 120-bed hotel over 12 floors, with banqueting rooms on the first floor and office accommodation on the second floor.

The contract from Croydon Hotels Group is worth £5m with agents Jones Lang Lasalle, architect Denner Ellis Boddington and engineers Dunwoody (M&E) and Meinhardt (Structural).

The development at 29-30 Dingwall Road in Croydon will be aiming for a BREEAM Very Good rating with completion expected before the end of 2011.

Ardmore stated: “Ardmore has an enviable track record in building hotels and this latest appointment comes shortly after its meticulous re-construction of London’s newest 5-star luxury hotel, the Corinthia Hotel London, on Whitehall Place.
