Balfour Beatty lands £53m schools contract

Balfour Beatty will begin work in the new year on a £53m contract to build a new secondary school in Oldham and refurbish another in the town.

Under the terms of the contract, Balfour will work alongside the town’s council to construct a new Roman Catholic secondary school, bringing together Our Lady’s and St Augustine’s, and refurbish North Chadderton school.

Balfour chief executive Ian Tyler said: “We look forward to delivering these first-class learning environments for the pupils and their teachers while demonstrating our commitment to the local communities through an employment and skills pledge that will leave a lasting skills legacy.”
