Balfour lands £28m Enfield school contract

Balfour Beatty has won a £28 million contract to build a London school, with work set to commence in August.

Oasis Academy Hadley has been given Department for Education funding to move from its current site to a new building at Ponders End, Enfield.

Work will commence on site in August, subject to planning permission.

The new three-storey school will house more than 1,900 students.

Balfour will plant trees around the building to protect it from noise, as well as developing a sports area for community use.

Primary students could begin moving into the first phase of the building in September 2012, and construction work is set to be completed on the project in 2013.
