Barr wins £13m of Tesco contracts in Scotland

Barr Construction has won contracts totalling in excess of £13 million for three new Tesco stores in Scotland.

Work is already underway on the three stores in Lesmahgow, South Lanarkshire; Tain, Rosshire; and Banchory, Kincardineshire, with all three due to open in November.

Barr is constructing a 3,319 sq m eco-friendly, timber clad store in Lesmahagow.

In Banchory, the contractor is constructing a 4,180 sq m Tesco eco-superstore, while the Tain store will be 2,601 sq m.

Barclay Chalmers, managing director of Barr Construction, said: “Despite the challenging economic conditions, our retail unit has performed extremely well throughout 2010 and these contracts will bolster what is already a strong order book.

“We have always enjoyed a close working relationship with Tesco and our focus in the coming months will be on delivering all three stores on-time and on-budget.”
