Barratt Homes/Wilson Bowden scoops £1bn Basildon deal

A joint venture between Barratt Homes and Wilson Bowden won has won the £1 billion deal to redevelop Basildon town centre in Essex.

The BWB team was approved as Basildon Council’s development partner for the 20-year project last night. It will prepare a master plan within 12 months to outline detailed plans for the town centre and timings of work packages.

Plans involve 52,000 sq m of retail and leisure space, up to 54,000 sq m of offices and 1,900 new homes.

Councillor Tony Ball said: “This is a momentous day for Basildon, and I am delighted to announce BWB as our long term development partner for the redevelopment of Basildon town centre.”
