Bids invited for £25m Cardiff Uni medical facility

Cardiff University is inviting firms to bid for a £25 million contract to build a new medical and scientific research facility to be located on its new Maindy Park city centre campus.

The four-storey 9,000 sq m Gateway building will consist of space for post graduate researchers, exhibition space, a lecture theatre, a medical clinic, three floors of medical research laboratories and a refectory.

It is currently anticipated that work on the 18 month contract will start on site during late 2010/early 2011.

The deadline for pre-qualification questionnaires is 30 June with between five and eight firms invited to tender.
