Bids invited for £50m Lambeth NHS job

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is inviting bids for a contract, worth up to £50 million, covering the design and construction of five new buildings in Lambeth, south east London.

The buildings, to be constructed at Founder’s Place, will provide accommodation for children and the families of children receiving treatment at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, a patient hotel, a health facility and affordable housing for the local area.

Bidders will need to include the novation of the current scheme architect in their submissions and later contractual obligations. The contractor will have to accept full design responsibility.

The contract, which is being procured under an accelerated procedure, will be divided into two packages. Funding of around £16m is in place for the first package and the Trust intends to secure a further £34m to complete Package 2.

Work is scheduled to start in June this year and run until December 2013.

Firms have until 8 February to submit pre-qualification questionnaires. A maximum of six will be invited to tender.
