Aberystwyth University seeks contractors for £27.5m Innovation and Enterprise Campus

Aberystwyth University is looking for a principal contractor to deliver a new £27.5m campus building.

The contractor will build the Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus, providing a seed bio-bank and processing facility, a bio-refining centre, an analytical science centre, a food centre and ‘The Hub’ – a forum for academic and industry stakeholders.

The contract involves a joint procurement between Aberystwyth University and AIEC, a joint venture between Aberystwyth University and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. Contractors will be invited to tender on 10 October 2016. The contract will start in December 2016 and end in May 2019.

AIEC has appointed consultant Aecom to oversee the project and cost management for the scheme, architect IBI Group to design the building and Cushman & Wakefield to provide planning guidance and advice.

Once complete, the project will provide a “world-leading” research centre for the agricultural technology industry.
