Costain/Skanska scoops second Crossrail portal

A Costain/Skanska joint venture has won a second portal construction package through the Crossrail enabling works framework.

After winning the £15m Royal Oak Portal contract in February the joint venture will also construct the Pudding Mill Lane Portal in East London under contract C248.

Crossrail has also announced its intention to award the following contracts under the framework:

  • C201 – Royal Oak Portal Taxi Facility Demolition - Keltbray
  • C207 – Demolition works for Crossrail Bond Street Station – McGee
  • C208 – Demolition works for Crossrail Tottenham Court Road Station – McGee

Crossrail head of procurement Martin Rowark said: “These early enabling works contracts are vital to the safe and efficient construction of the subsequent station buildings and other structures. The contracts are significant and complex in their own right and we are pleased to have awarded them on schedule.”
