Durkan wins £3m London housing development contract

Durkan has won a £3 million contract from Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association to provide a 27 unit development in Hoxton, East London.

The development will involve the demolition of existing buildings and the design and build of a seven-storey block with a mix of one to four bedroom apartments.

To achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, the development will include a range of sustainable and energy saving technologies including photovoltaic panels which will provide electricity, green roofs to support the plant life and attenuate water and high quality insulation to guarantee low U-values.

Durkan managing director Robert Clark said: “We are delighted to be working with Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association on this exciting new development in Hoxton.

“The Burbage House project will have a positive impact on people both living and working around the area.”

On site parking and cycle storage will be provided and the surrounding area landscaped. The project is likely to be completed late 2011.
