EM Highways wins £599m Highways Agency contract

Mouchel’s highways business has won a £599m deal to maintain major roads in the West Midlands.

EM Highway Services was awarded the area 9 asset support contract by the Highways Agency.

The five-year contract, starting in July 2014, covers over 450 miles of major roads including the M5, M6, M40 and the M42.

Tim Harbot, divisional director for the Agency’s Midlands region said: “By specifying the outcomes required for a safe and well maintained road network, and giving suppliers greater freedom to innovate to achieve those outcomes, asset support contracts incentivise our supply chain to deliver results for road users, and will achieve significant cost savings too.

“I am looking forward to working alongside EM Highways to deliver the best service we can for the region.”

EM Highway, previously called EnterpriseMouchel Ltd, was a joint venture between Mouchel and Enterprise. Mouchel bought Enterprise’s stake in February last year after Spanish infrastructure giant Ferrovial acquired Enterprise, which is now part of its UK business Amey.
