Essex County Council tenders £3bn highways contract

Up to £3 billion of work will be up for grabs through Essex County Council’s new mammoth 10 year highways and transportation contract.

The council is seeking a private sector partner to deliver a variety of maintenance and management services under a contract, which could run for up to 15 years.

Work to be carried out under the deal includes highways maintenance, resurfacing, improvement schemes and surveying services as well as maintenance of street lighting and structures, landscaping, and management and development of a traffic control centre.

Between three and eight firms will be invited to participate in competitive dialogue at the end of September with a bidders’ day scheduled for the second week in October.

Interested firms have until 16 August to submit pre-qualification questionnaires.
