Firms picked for £300m North-east building framework

More than 20 firms have landed places on a new £300m framework covering projects across the North-east.

Esh, Interserve, Kier, Sir Robert McAlpine, Wates and Willmott Dixon have all been picked for the highest value lot of the North East Procurement Organisation’s building and construction works framework.

The deal will cover the construction and refurbishment of public buildings such as primary and secondary schools, libraries, fire stations, police stations and social housing projects.

A total of 18 local authorities and public sector bodies across the North-east will be able to use the framework.

The framework will cover the next four years, with NEPO having the option to extend the framework by two years depending on contractor performance.

Work will be split into six lots split by area and project value, led by one lot covering work over £5m across the whole of the North-east.

NEPO is currently two years into its flagship civil engineering and infrastructure framework worth between £900m and £1.5bn.
