Sunderland City Council's NEPO framework awarded to 23 contractors

More than 20 firms have won places on the North East Procurement Organisation framework worth between £900m and £1.5bn.

There are 23 winners in total on the four-year framework for civil engineering and infrastructure works across the North-east.

Sunderland City Council led the procurement on behalf of NEPO, with 15 specialist lots covered, ranging from highways and drainage work to infrastructure and public realm.

A pipeline of works is being developed from local authorities. There will be mini-competitions within the 15 lots from works worth less than £1m to major projects.

Esh Construction was successful on 14 out of the 15 lots.

NEPO said 39 per cent of the successful contractors were based in the North-east.

The contract employed for works will be NEC3 and specific KPIs have been developed to monitor social value in areas such as employment, skills and using a local supply chain.
