Galliford Try clinches £36.1m housing and regen work

Galliford Try has won five contracts in the affordable housing and regeneration sectors totalling £36.1 million.

The contractor will carry out the design and build of a regeneration programme called The Tidemill School, Deptford Lounge and Resolution Studios in Deptford for the London Borough of Lewisham under a £20 million deal.

Work will cover developing the new Tidemill Primary School that will be integrated with a new public building to be named the Deptford Lounge. 

The Deptford Lounge will house a public library, a council service centre, a number of community rooms, office spaces, a cafe and health and leisure services.  The Resolution Studios, 9 creative studio units, an art gallery and 38 one and two-bedroom homes will be built on the complex. 

Work is due to be completed in May 2011. 

Galliford Try has also been appointed on three contracts worth a total of £14.3 million by Swan Housing Association to build a total of 128 affordable homes in East London.

A £1.8 million contract has been secured by Galliford Try to remodel the 1st to 3rd Floors to form 69 self contained bed rooms at Anchor House, a hostel for homeless adults in Canning Town East London.

Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said: “These contracts demonstrate the strength of our diverse offering. They bring together our design and build expertise in education, affordable housing, commercial and leisure projects together with our extensive experience of regenerating communities.”
