Galliford Try wins £24m Edgbaston redevelopment

Galliford Try has been appointed preferred bidder on a £24 million project to redevelop test match venue Edgbaston for Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

The contractor will design and build a new stadium section, which will seat 8,250 spectators and replaces an existing section with a capacity of just under 5,000.

The stadium will be in continuous use throughout the construction of the new section, which will also feature improved player and media facilities.

Work on site is expected to start in March 2010 and completion is expected in July 2011.
