Green light for McLaren's £20m Westminster hotel

Westminster Council has given the go-ahead for a £20m conversion of an historic courthouse into a hotel.

Construction intelligence provider Glenigan says McLaren Construction will carry out the work to turn Bow Street magistrates court and police station into a hotel.

The scheme involves constructing several extensions and an additional basement to turn the buildings into a 99-bed hotel.

According to Glenigan, the project should continue until September 2015.

The building was once closely associated with the Bow Street Runners, one of the first professional detective groups in London, who went to the court to be paid for solving crimes.
