Herriot Watt Uni advertises £26m student halls job

Herriot Watt University is seeking contractors to build two new student halls of residence, worth £26.3 million in total, at its Edinburgh and Galashiels campuses.

The project is split into two lots, which will run from January 2011 to June 2012.

The first lot, worth £13.5m, comprises the construction of 273 new bed spaces of residential student accommodation at Galashiels to replace the existing 218 space residences.

The second lot is worth £12.8m and will see 279 bed spaces built as part of a larger programme to replace 460 bed spaces at Edinburgh.

Between 10 and 16 firms will be shortlisted and invited to tender on 23 August.

Contractors have until 28 June to submit pre-qualification questionnaires.
