Hounslow advertises £15m leisure centres revamp

The London Borough of Hounslow is looking for contractors to upgrade a number of leisure centres in the area under a deal worth up to £15 million.

The contract, advertised on the Official Journal of the European Union this week, will cover improvement works on three leisure centres in west London.

Work on Feltham Airparcs Leisure Centre will cover demolition and reconstruction of its single storey buildings to form a new reception, cafeteria, library and crèche. This project is valued at £5.6 million.

Isleworth Recreation Centre and Isleworth Library will be given a £5.3 million revamp. Work will cover integrating the two buildings to provide a leisure ‘hub’. This will see construction of a link between the two.

Work to extend the new Chiswick Pool by an extra storey is valued at £2.6 million. This will cover removal of the existing roof and construction of a second storey gym.

A maximum of six bidders will be invited to tender for the deal. The project is set to start in August 2009 with completion due in May 2010.

Firms have until 6 April to express an interest.
